About menstruation
Everything you need to know about menstruation – a natural sign that your body is working as it should
PMS – when your hormones make themselves known
Many women experience so-called PMS (premenstrual syndrome) in the days leading up to their period. This can include mood swings, bloating, headaches, or low mood. Research shows that PMS is linked to how the body breaks down the hormone progesterone after ovulation. Some individuals are more sensitive to the substances formed when the hormone breaks down – and therefore react more strongly.
First period
Getting your first period is a big step in life. It can feel exciting, confusing, and scary – and all of that is perfectly okay. Periods usually start sometime between 10 and 16 years of age, but it varies a lot.
Your body changes during puberty: you may grow hair in new places, get pimples, sweat more, and notice changes in your breasts or vulva. All these changes are natural and show that your body is growing and developing.

Period pain – when the uterus is working
Period pain is caused by the uterus contracting to shed its lining. The pain is often felt as a dull ache in the lower abdomen or back. Some people only experience mild pain, while others have more intense cramps – both are completely normal.
Some ways to relieve period pain:
- Use BellaWarm-

.
Heat helps with menstrual pain by relaxing the uterine muscles and increasing blood circulation in the area. When the uterine muscles relax, the cramping contractions that cause pain are reduced. The increased blood circulation also helps to reduce tension and alleviate the feeling of pressure in the abdomen or lower back.
- Move your body-
– exercise releases endorphins that reduce pain and increase well-being.
- Eat something good-
, like dark chocolate – it can actually raise serotonin levels, the body's own "feel-good" hormone.
